Home Block

The home block represents prefab homes. The reason why I chose the prefab home is because of its sustainable benefits and the link between technology and their design. With the capability of 3D printing, prefab homes could be designed and mass produced by the community.

In the game, every home block is 600sqft and represents 1 person. Honoring the dignity of every person to have adequate living space. In the full game, we will be able to connect home blocks in any way we choose to make homes for more than one person. In the prototype we are able to replicate this vertically with stacking.

Since every home block represents one person, We want to cover our basic needs of food, water, and energy while giving work hours to the neighborhood. Each need is backed by researched averages in human consumption.

For now, needs per person per day are as follows:

Numbers are subject to change according to research. The above numbers are averages based on linked sources.

In our full game, work hours will be adjustable to aid in envisioning a lifestyle where the standard work week is minimized while core needs are met. To further explore that, our prototype home blocks give 20 hours per week.
